Relating to Voices – A community event for voice-hearers and their supporters
with Charlie Heriot-Maitland, hosted by MHASF.
This three-hour event will invite you to consider ways of developing a compassionate understanding of voices, and what they may represent. It will also introduce ways of engaging with different types of voices that may lead to a more peaceful relationship. This event will offer a shift away from viewing voices as the enemies, towards viewing them as potential allies in emotional problem-solving. This approach may be different to some others that participants have come across, which can often be about challenging voices, suppressing them, distracting from them, or getting rid of them. The Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) approach suggests that we can learn to relate to both voices and ourselves in a way that is less about conflict and more about cooperation. You will be guided by Charlie through a selection of the ideas and exercises included in the new book written for voice-hearers, Relating to Voices using CFT: A Self-help Companion. As part of the registration fee, you will also receive a copy of this book to help support you with your ongoing compassionate journey.
$25 registration, which includes the book (discounted from normal retail price $26.95)
